AS B239 – Welded steel cylinders for compressed gases of capacity over 10 litres (approx. 22 lb of water) up to and including 130 litres (approx. 286 lb of water)

Specifies material requirements for six grades of weldable quality carbon steel, in addition to two grades of steel, with minimum yield stress ranging from 26 000 lbf/in(sup)2 to 45 000 lbf/in(sup)2. The design formula for calculating minimum thickness of wall and end is given, together with details of test requirements for the parent metal and the welded joint. A hydrostatic test on the cylinder is required and a burst test on selected cylinders. (For new cylinders refer to AS 2470).
